Macbeth in Stride

I finished grad school.  It was crazy and amazing and there aren’t enough words to describe it. Suffice it to say it was well worth it. I owe my class and faculty innumerable thanks and am looking forward to what’s next.  Incredibly, our culminating Third Year Solo Project yielded something really fruitful for me: my one woman show Macbeth in Stride.  I say one woman, but I couldn’t do it without my accomplices on the guitar and piano.

Macbeth in Stride is an intimate look at the journey of Lady M set to the landscape of the music of Ike and Tina Turner.  It is soulful, blazing, and a real rock show with all of Lady M’s text. So far i’ve performed it at The Granoff Performance Center in RI and also for White Heron Theatre Company in Nantucket.

It’s funny that after three years of intensive work at Trinity I returned to Tina.  The first TV gig I ever landed also focused on her and Ike’s music.  But I find that her image is fierce and perfectly fits within the lens of Shakespeare. It’s also just awesome music that really engages the audience.  Check out this clip and you’ll see what I mean.

More to come, but looking forward to doing the show again soon.
