The Shakesperian View

This week Whitney had a great audition at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. The theater is located on Navy Pier and is a huge tourist attraction. Going out for auditions never hurts when it is as sunny as it was that day.

While there she bumped into two lovely ladies she has had the pleasure of working with: Tiffany  (blue skirt, understudied Whitney in The Hundred Dresses) and Victoria (white dress, Mimi in Night Blue’s production of RENT).  The ladies all aggreed that it was a pleasant experience.

CST always picks great pieces and material and never hesitates to diverse cast roles.  Fingers crossed!

Three Little Dresses

Had another great rehearsal for episode four of The Playboy Club this week. Fatima Robinson and Jay Anthony did the choreography again and it was a work out as usual. After rehearsal the costume department showed some options, all were charming vintage dresses in a variety of colors.

One can’t help but notice how in vogue vintage styling and culture is right now. In the spirit of the 60’s here are some great tunes to get you in the mood…

1. “Baby It’s You” The Shirelles

2. “River Deep and Mountain High”– Ike and Tina Turner

3. “Foolish Little Girl”– The Shirelles

4. “You Really Got a Hold on Me”– Smokey Robinson and the Miracles

5. “Your Baby’s Back”– Downbeats

Photo Shoot Fresh

On Tuesday Whitney shot with Janna Giacoppo at the Strawdog Theatre space.  Getting professional photos done is always a bit nerve wrecking, but the weather was beautiful and armed with some killer tunes and a great stylist, Nicole Ventura, the shoot went off without a hitch.

Whitney and Nicole on set

Nicole is 100% pro and used an airbrush for foundation which went on very light and did not require being retouched for 6 hours. She used a combination of products mostly Senna, Bobbi Brown, and Mario Badescu skin care.  Badescu’s facial spray and primer rock!

The Strawdog Theatre space was a great place to shoot as it is colorful and abundant in textures and surfaces.

Favorite shots will be posted soon so stay tuned!

New Press!

I recently did an interview for AndWePresent.com, an entertainment website covering urban fashion, music, and celebrity news. Look out for the published feature by the end of the week.

We met up at Cafe Cito, the best Cuban sandwich joint in Chicago. The staff was very welcoming and the writers were great. We chatted about my current projects and future plans.

Below is the scene at the cafe, located in the loop near Roosevelt. Menu must try: the Ropa Vieja sandwich. Yum Yum.

JC Brooks and The Uptown Sound Video

So excited to make this post!  Yesterday Whitney shot with JC Brooks and The Uptown Sound for their upcoming release “Everything will be Fine”.

The Uptown Sound is a soul outfit based out of Chicago that brings life to classic jams and mixes them with their own original pieces. This Friday they are performing at Doubledoor, and throughout September they will be touring Spain and Italy.

Whitney first worked with the band on Passing Strange with Bailiwick Chicago spring of 2011.  Their album is on pre-sale now at Amazon.com with an official release October 25th.
